Mozambique Independence Day

Mozambique gained independence from Portugal on June 25, 1975, after the Portuguese colonial rule in Mozambique lasted for over four centuries, from the early 16th century until the mid-20th century.

Samora Machel, a charismatic and influential figure, emerged as one of the leading figures of FRELIMO’s struggle for independence.

On June 25, 1975, Mozambique formally gained independence from Portugal, and Samora Machel became the country’s first President,
